Technical University Freiberg (TUF)

Technical University Freiberg Project Description

The Chair for High Performance Computing in Continuum Mechanics (Prof. Oliver Rheinbach) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science develops fast iterative solvers for partial differential equations, especially domain decomposition methods and multilevel methods [40, 39, 36, 45], homogenization methods [44, 46], coupled problems such as fluid-structure interaction in biomechanics [5], Scientific Machine Learning and Machine Learning for problems in geosciences [50]. The research ranges from the development of new algorithms to the implementation in scalable application software. The target architectures are regularly supercomputers that are among the fastest computers in the world [40, 44, 45]. Oliver Rheinbach, as Scientific Director, leads the University Computing Center of the TU Freiberg. In this project, TUF will be responsible for the development of highly parallel algebraic multi-level methods and, together with UzK, will lead the work package AP1.
